ROUTING METHOD FOR MULTI-CAST COMMUNICATION SERVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an ATM network to conduct multi-cast communication without placing limitation on an arrangement method of a cell copy function in the ATM network. SOLUTION: An interpreter section of an ATM exchange has a table A to decide a conventional path and a table B for multi-cast communication. When a multi-cast routing flag F1 is not set in a received setup message, a signal processing section sets the flag F1 (1), and when the exchange has a cell copy function and the flag F1 is set, the signal processing section clears the flag F1 (2). In the case of sending the setup message to a terminal equipment, the signal processing section does not set the flag F1 (4). The interpreter section uses the table B, when the flag F1 is set in the case of receiving an interpretation instruction from the signal processing section and uses the table S when the flag F1 is not set so as to select a path.
