PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a laminated structural material practically free from separation and peeling of layers by successively repeating, for every layer, an operation consisting of adhesion of a slurry for forming a layer of desired characteristic to the surface of a sintered base material and application of drying and sintering. SOLUTION: For example, a base material, consisting of about 88-92wt.% of WC powder (about 0.6-2μm average grain size) and about 12-8wt.% of Co powder, is formed and sintered. The resultant sintered base material is immersed in a slurry having a composition consisting of WC, Co, NbC, and TaC and this slurry is allowed to adhere to the peripheral part of the base material to form a layer, which is taken out of the slurry and then dried and sintered to form a sintered compact layer. By successively repeating this operation, desired layers are laminated on the base material. Respective layers, laminated as mentioned above, are practically free from separation and peeling, and the high quality laminated structural material free from cracking can be obtained at low manufacturing costs.
