PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise without fading an image of an outline or a part in fast motion out of focus by calculating the degrees of dispersion in pixel value of a noticed pixel in X-ray image data in respective directions and employing the value, obtained by smoothing the pixel value in the direction where the degree of dispersion is smallest, as the value of the pixel. SOLUTION: X Rays from an X-ray tube 11 are transmitted through a subject 10, made incident on an image intensifier 12, and converted into an optical image. Then the image signal of the output optical image of the image intensifier 12 is converted by an A/D converter 15 into digital image data, which are sent to a digital image processor 16. Circuits 30-33 of the digital image processor 16 calculates variance values σ showing the degrees of dispersion in pixel value in the respective directions and the mean value of the pixel values, a comparator 34 compares the variance values of the respective directions and sends the vector number of the smallest variance value to a selector 35, and the mean value of the pixel values of the vector having the vector number is selected and outputted as image data after the processing of the pixel of interest. |
