PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing powdery slaked lime which is very fine and therefore has high activity from coarser slaked lime. SOLUTION: This fine powder slaked lime is obtained by fluidizing an inactive material, for example, silica sand which has particle size within the range of 100-1,500μm and narrow particle size distribution, by using warm or hot gas to form a fluidized bed having a definite temperature within the range from 30 deg.C to 300oC, and feeding, into the fluidized bed, slurry of slaked lime of 50μm or less particle size produced by dispersing the lime into water, and drying the slaked lime slurry.
