PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open-top IC socket excellent in operability, and capable of operating a movable plate for moving contact pins from a contact position to a non-contact position with respect to a terminal of an IC package to be mounted and a working member for laterally movable the moving plate. SOLUTION: An IC socket comprises a movable plate 3 disposed in such a manner as to be freely moved laterally with respect to a base member l; an operating member 4 disposed in such a manner as to be freely moved vertically with respect to the base member 1; and a working member 5 for laterally moving the movable plate 3 according to the pushing-down of the operating member 4 so as to move contact pins 2 arranged in the base member 1 from a contact position to a non-contact position with respect to a terminal of an IC package. The working member 5 is provided along the end face of the movable plate 3.
