PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ciphering method and a ciphering device capable of improving a ciphering strength and a ciphering processing speed by efficiently utilizing resources of hardware and software. SOLUTION: This ciphering device generates plural intermediate keys K1∼Kn based on inputted key data 112 and generates ciphered data 111 by performing a stirring processing with stirring functions fs of plural (n) stages with respect to input block data 110 by using these respectively generated plural intermediate key data. At this time, a key updating part 107 updates the intermediate keys Kn, K1 to be used for agitation functions fs of the last stage and the first stage each time the ciphered data 111 having a prescribed data amount are generated.
