VOICE CODER/DECODER WITH VOICE RECORDING AND REPRODUCING FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voice coder/decoder with recording and reproducing function without generating abnormal sound at the time of the mode changeover of low power consumption and a small occupancy area. SOLUTION: For this decoder, an adaptive differential pulse code modulation(ADPCM) decoder 4 is turned to a reset state by reset signals from a reset signal generation circuit 19 at the time of the changeover of reproducing mode signals 112. One of an ADPCM code read from a memory 8 at the time of the changeover of the reproducing mode signals and the ADPCM code 103 supplied through a transmission line is selected and supplied to the ADPCM decoder 4. The ADPCM decoder 4 is turned to an output mute state by the reset signals and does not generate the abnormal sound even when the non- continuity of the ADPCM code at the time of the reproducing mode changeover occurs. An ADPCM coder 3 and the ADPCM decoder 4 are shared for the use of recording and reproducing and the use of communication.
