<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively avoid congestion by using a cell transmission buffer with a comparatively small capacity. SOLUTION: An ATM communication equipment 102 converts transmission data SD from a transmission/reception terminal equipment 101 into cells and sends them to an ATM network 103 and converts reception cells from the ATM network into reception data RD and sends them to the transmission/ reception terminal equipment. In this case, the ATM communication equipment 102 monitors whether or not congestion takes place in itself or in an ATM network 103 and controls a period of a transmission timing signal ST2 outputted to the transmission/reception terminal equipment 101, so as to comparatively increase a transfer rate of the transmission data SD when no congestion takes place, or so as to comparatively decrease the transfer rate of the transmission data SD when congestion takes place and controls a period of a reception timing signal RT outputted to the transmission/reception terminal equipment 101, so that the transfer of the reception data RD to the transmission reception terminal equipment 101 is conducted at a predetermined transfer rate.</p> |
