PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a portable computer and the peripheral equipments, which correspond to a use mode that a user selects, by specifying the combination of a key position and a protection means. SOLUTION: A security key 213 provided at the back of the left side of a docking device 200 has three key positions. At the time of a single user mode, the removal of the notebook computer 100 is inhibited and the extraction of PC cards from a PC card slot 118 and a PC card slot 331 below the docking device is inhibited at a locking position. At the time of a multi user mode, the PC cards cannot freely be installed on the PC card slot 331 and the removal is protected in an ejecting position and an unlocking position.
