A method for laying out a channel (7) for the cultivation of plants in a field comprises the following steps: gradually unwinding the material of a roll (17) of wound, substantially planar plastic web of material (1); folding the unwound material along longitudinal lines so as to form a channel-shaped web (7) with a bottom and two side walls extending upwardly from the bottom; filling a growth medium into the channel-shaped web (7); providing the channel-shaped web (7) with an irrigation hose (31); planting plants (22) in the channel-shaped web and pulling the channel-shaped web (7) out onto the area until a predetermined length has been led out onto the area. |
