The toothbrush has a handle (2) which has bristles (16, 20, 23) on the outer flank thereof and is provided with a coupling section (26, 27) on the inner flank thereof. To move the bristles (16, 20, 23), the coupling section can be connected to a motor drive. Two parallel circular discs (14, 19) at a distance from each other are mounted to turn about a shaft (11) positioned transversely to the handle (2). At least one section of the bristles (16, 20 23) is arranged in a circular manner to form a circle of bristles on those sides of the circular discs (14, 19) which face each other, and each forms therewith a cup-shaped brush (21 or 22), which brushes (21, 22) face each other with the free bristle ends. The two cup-shaped brushes (21, 22) are connected to the coupling section (26, 27) through a gear. |
