A method for making a footwear article, particularly an infant bootee, including an upper (10, 12), optionally comprising a foxing (10), a rear quarter (12) and a sole (14), comprising the steps of cutting the pieces (26, 28, 46, 48) forming the upper in a first (22) and second (24) material in accordance with the shape of the desired article of footwear, assembling the upper at least from the said two cut pieces which have been sewn together at least at one of the cut edges thereof, and placing an edging (68) on the free edge of the upper and opposite the edge of the sole, cutting at least one piece forming the sole (14) of the desired article, and sewing together (70) the edge of the sole and the edging of the upper so as to make the article of footwear entirely reversible. The product thus obtained is also disclosed.
