<p>The present invention provides an apparatus and method for reducing temperature increases in a circuit (26) for an MRI receive only coil (28). The circuit (26) includes, a receive only coil circuit output (30) coupled to the MRI receive only coil (28), a tuning capacitor (32) and matching capacitor (34) for coupling the MRI receive only coil (28) to the output (30), and a transmission line (36) and p-i-n diode (42) for distributing heat over a large surface area, the transmission line (36) and p-i-n diode (42) coupled to the tuning and matching capacitors (32, 34). The p-i-n diode (42) is forward biased during a transmit cycle and reverse biased during a receive cycle.</p> |
