The support structure is for a rear differential (3) on a road vehicle. There is a crossbeam (10) which has a loop of metal (17) surrounding the power shaft (2) to stop the end flailing about if the shaft should break. The shaft and differential assembly fit under the fuel tank (4) with the suspension linkage. Side beams (12) on the suspension are connected to fittings with pairs of pivot points (13,14) on the vehicle bodywork. There is a rear crossbeam (11) which carries a support for the fuel tank.
