ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR FOR USE WITH METALLIC RACEWAYS

The invention relates to connectors for use in the electrical wiring systems in residential and commercial buildings. The prior art includes a variety of connectors fabricated by stamping sheet steel, they are relatively expensive. It is thus an object of the invention to provide a connector that will be less expensive to manufacture than the prior art steel stamping type connectors and provide secure connection with an associated junction box. An electrical connector apparatus (10) for coupling a metallic raceway to a control or junction box which includes a unitary die cast body (14) having first and second elongated cylindrical section shaped portions each having first and second ends. The electrical connector apparatus (10) further includes means for pushing an associated metallic raceway away from one of the elongated cylindrical section shaped portions and toward the other of the elongated cylindrical section shaped portions to positively couple the associated metallic raceway to the connector. In some forms of the invention the apparatus further includes a second electrical connector member joining the first and second generally cylindrical section shaped portions and the first and second connector members are disposed in spaced relationship.
