The supply pipe (8) introducing air into the wearer's nose or mouth area contains a humidifying arrangement for the breathing air, on the side away from the protective mask (1). The humidifying arrangement, fixed to a belt (11) worn at the wearer's waist, consists of a humidifier (13) possessing a water-container (12), and a pressure regulator (14). The pressure regulator and humidifier are connected by a connecting pipe (15). The pressure regulator and humidifier are detachably suspended by holder-straps (16) from the wearer's (3) belt.
