An electrical switch bay or panel for medium voltage has a busbar chamber and a chamber containing at least one switching component, separated by a wall from the first chamber. The busbar chamber (15 to 17) and the contacts (26) of the switching components beside them can be joined and separated by means of conductors (34) inside the panel. In the separated position, the busbars are switched off. On each of the busbars or possibly on the conductors (19 to 21) joined to them is fastened a fixed contact piece (23) which can be touched by the first-mentioned conductors. These are rigid conducting strips with one end touching the fixed contact pieces and the other end touching the contacts of the switching components.
