A method for obtaining information on the pollution of the environment with the aid of honey bees involving spectrometric measurements of samples of the products of bee-keeping, distinguished in that, first, spectrometric measurements are performed of wax, which is to be placed in the beehive, then samples of pollen and propolis are repeatedly taken from beehives with bee families established within an area exceeding the effective bee flight range, and the samples are stored and accumulated during a time period equal to the maximum half-life time of the radionucleides measured, after which, upon completion of the measurements, the results are processed and compared taking into account the existent radioactive background, and on the basis of these results an estimate is obtained of the radioactive pollution of the area exceeding the effective bee flight range.
