Hollow floor in building

The hollow floor or false floor is used in a building. The floor may be covered with large square or rectangular tiles (4) which rest on a thin layer (11) on top of an array of thick triangular tiles or slabs (1). The triangular slabs are supported by a bucket-shaped feet (2) under their vertices. The buckets are filled with a material which sets hard when water is added, e.g. gypsum or cement. An elastic, e.g. foam layer is place on top of the gypsum or cement to support the floor. The rough floor or foundation (6) may be levelled using a screed (7). Hollow kerbs (14) are placed at the edges of the floor and the spaces at the edges of the tiles are filled in with poured grout or floor plaster (15). There is a flexible edge strip at the extreme edge of the floor.
