Pretzel forming machine has a supply belt to carry over the dough strands from the rolling machine, and a length measuring unit with sensors. Preferably, to pick out excessively long or short dough strands, there is a flap under sensor (4) control. This ensures that only dough strands of the correct length are laid onto the buffer (7) belt. The forming belt is divided into sections (8), with a comb (10) moving in X- and Y- directions passed through from below. Over a divided forming belt, there are a pair of actuators moving in Z- and Y- directions. Sensors are attached to these.
