New polyesters (P) comprise at least 0.1 mol.% repeat units of formula -O-OC-Ar<1>-CO-O-R1- (I) and optionally upto 99.9 mol.% repeat units of formula -O-OC-Ar<2>-CO-O-R2- (II); (where Ar<1> = group of formulae (III)-(V); Ar<2> = di- or polyvalent mono- or polycyclic aromatic group other than those of formula (III)-(V); R1, R2 = divalent cyclohexane dimethanol-based cycloaliphatic group, -CnH2n or -CmH2m-O-x-CmH2m; R3, R5 = monovalent (cyclo)aliphatic, aromatic or aryl aliphatic group, preferably methyl; R4 = -CoH2o+1 or -CpH2p-O-z-R5; Y = single bond, -NR<3>-, S or O; Z = single bond, bridging group, O, -Cq-H2q-, S, -CO- or SO2; m, n, p = 2-10; o = 6-30; q, z = 1-10; y = 1-4; and z = 1-10. Also claimed are: (i) preparation methods for (P); and (ii) polymer compositions (Q) containing (P) and another polyester with repeat units of formula (I) but no repeat units of formula (II).
