Method for recognition by computer of at least one finger-shaped object in a hand-shaped first object

The method involves acquiring a digital image contg. the hand, determining its colour and contour using a colour table and contour following technique, detecting a second, hand surface shaped object (HFO) and selecting a reference point (RP) within it. The distances of several contour points from the reference point are determined to identify a finger tip point (FP) from distances exceeding a defined threshold. The finger tip point is identified using an iterative cycle involving selecting a comparison point on the contour, constructing a perpendicular to the line and a perpendicular to the first perpendicular from the finger tip point. The ratio of the lines is stored and the process is repeated until two points equidistant from the finger tip are located, whereupon the object (FO) is classified as a finger-shaped object.
