Parallel cylinders (28,29) each contain one piston (24,26) in an end chamber (28a,29a), and one hollow piston (25,27) in an adjoining chamber (28b,29b), of lesser diameter, containing an inner piston (17,18). The chambers communicate through orifices (37,38) in the blind ends of the hollow pistons. The cylinder axes pass through contact rollers (15,16) at each end of a transverse rocker plate (14) fixed to the barrel-cam shaft (7). Admission of fluid to one or other cylinder forces its inner piston against the associated contact, rotating the rocker correspondingly. Admissions are controlled by electrically operated valves in an external hydraulic system, which includes a plunger engaged in a notched sector geared to the camshaft, giving step-by-step action. Adjustable stops (42,43) limit the operating range.
|
