PURPOSE:To make an optical head thin, and simultaneously, to simplify assembling process by making a base into such a shape that the length of a side perpendicular to an information carrier is shortened, and besides, connections to connect between an input/output connection part to an external circuit and a radiation light source or a photodetector are made nearly parallel with each other. CONSTITUTION:A reflecting means 3 to bend an optical axis by a right angle is used, and in addition, as for the shape of the base on which the radiation light source 1 and the photode tector 8 are arranged in one body, the length W in the direction nearly perpendicular to both the radiation axis of the radiation light source and the information carrier is made shorter than the length L in the direction nearly perpendicular to the radiation axis of the radiation light source 1 and nearly parallel with the information carrier. Besides, the directions of the connections to connect between the input/output terminal part of the radiation light source 1 and the photodetector 8 and the input/output connection part to the external circuit are made parallel with each other. Thus, miniaturization is realized in the direction of the thickness of the optical head, and the whole optical head can be made thin. Besides, since the connection is connected by motion in the same direction by making the directions of the connections into such a direction that the connections are parallel with each other, automa tion becomes easy. |
