<p>A refuse container 1 comprises a support chassis 2 having a pair of ground engaging wheels 4 and a skip 3 mounted thereon. The skip is in the form of a container with a base 10 and upstanding side walls 11, the base 10 being inclined downwards from an elevated charging inlet to a discharge outlet which is closed by a lockable refuse supporting door (17, Fig 2). Preferably the container is enclosed and also has doors 14 on the inlet. The refuse supporting door (17) on the outlet is pivoted so as to lie substantially vertical when open and the lock comprises a lever arm 21 with a slot 22 adapted to engage a spigot 23 on the door 17. The chassis preferably has a telescopic tow bar 6 and a lockable hitch. The chassis may also include a loading platform (34, Fig 7) adjacent the charging inlet.</p> |
