PURPOSE:To eliminate energy to be used for discharging ink while sealing a discharge port by enabling electric connection of an ink jet cartridge to a printer body only if protective tape is peeled off. CONSTITUTION:A contact part 9a having a contact 9 with an electric contact 6 of an ink jet unit 4 is provided on a carriage 15 on the printer body side, and connected to the body through a flexible cable 16. An ink jet cartridge is so mounted as to insert the part 9a on the carriage 15 from an opening 6a into the interior. In this case, since the same stripelike protective tape 7 for protecting together the discharge port of an ink discharger 4 is mounted at an insertion part, the ink jet cartridge must be mounted after it is peeled off. This protective tape protects the discharge port of the discharger 4 and blocks so that the part 9a having the contact 9 on the printer side is not inserted into the inner space of the jet cartridge. |
