PURPOSE:To obtain a suspending agent for an aqueous starch slurry, containing rhamsan gum as an active component and capable of providing the aqueous starch slurry excellent in stability and fluidity in a high concentration. CONSTITUTION:A suspending agent for an aqueous starch slurry containing (A) rhamsan gum expressed by the formula which is a natural gum obtained by fermenting glucose with a species of American.Type.Culture.Collection deposit ATCC 31961 belonging to Gram-negative aerobic bacterial Alcaligenes, purifying and powdering polysaccharides released to the outside of the microbial cells. (B) Starch in an amount of 30-60wt.% is then blended with the above- mentioned rhamsan gum in an amount of 0.01-1wt.%, preferably 0.03-0.5wt.% based on the starch expressed in terms of dry weight and, as necessary, a suspension assistant (a water-soluble polymer substance and/or surfactant), preservative, etc., are contained therein to prepare an aqueous slurry composition having 2-30mum particle diameter. |
