<p>A semiconductor laser light source acts as its own photodetector in a combined system. Variations in the light returning to the laser cause detectable variations in the laser drive current. In an optical disk storage system, these variations are produced by dithering a focusing lens and the detected current variation is analysed and fed back to control focusing of the laser on the disk. <IMAGE></p> |
