PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material markedly excellent in color forming sensitivity and markedly reduced in background fog and the fading of a printed part after preservation by containing a specific ester compound in a color forming layer. CONSTITUTION:In this thermal recording material, a color forming layer containing a usually colorless or light-colored color forming substance and a coupler acting on said substance to form a color at the time of heating contains a compound represented by general formula (I) (wherein R1 and R2 are respectively independently a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and R3 and R4 are respectively independently a hydrogen atom or a 1-8 C alkyl group. As the alkyl group represented by R3, methyl, ethyl, propyl, n-propyl, isobutyl, tertiary butyl, hexyl, octyl, 2-ethylhexyl, isooctyl, tertiary octyl or the like are designated). As the compound represented by the general formula (I), for example, hydroquinone bis(methacrylate), hydroquinone bis(acrylate), hydroqui none bis(crotonate), tertiary butylhydroquinone bis(methacrylate) or the like are designated. |
