PURPOSE:To easily and safely perform the settlement of accounts of a commercial transaction between a user and a seller by discriminating whether a customer IC card can be handled by a customer IC card reader-writer at the time of the settlement of the transaction. CONSTITUTION:This method is provided with the customer IC card reader-writer 15 which reads and writes information out of and to the customer IC card 19 and a retail store IC card reader writer 8 which is connected thereto electrically and mutually and reads and writes information out of and to a retail store IC card 12. At the time of the settlement of accounts of the transaction, the customer IC card reader-writer 15 discriminates whether the customer IC card can be handled and when the card can be handled, new balance is recorded on the customer IC card 19 and transferred to the retail store IC card reader- writer 8, and recorded on the retail store IC card 12, thereby moving the settled amount of money. Therefore, the settlement process can easily be performed without complicated postprocessing. |
