Two stroke internal combustion engine with crosshead and comprising rotary sleeve distribution

The two stroke i.c. engine comprises a rotating liner distribution system. The cylinder (1) has double concentric walls (10,11) between which the liner (12) rotates. The liner comprises a cylindrical sheath with fresh air supply orifices (23), transfer, inlet and exhaust orifices located so as to control opening of the corresponding cylinder ports. The cylindrical liner is rotated synchronously through a drive shaft by an appropriate transmission such that in each rotation of the crankshaft the liner rotates through an angle equal to the angular pitch of the inlet and exhaust ports. A supply piston (8) driven by the cross rod (3) connecting the engine piston (2) to the rod (4) slides in an auxiliary cylinder in the crankcase (6). The supply piston induces and compresses fresh air then transfers it into the internal volume located behind the engine piston where it is passed into the combustion chamber.
