CLEANING TAPE FOR MAGNETIC HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning tape for a magnetic head capable of simultaneously satisfying good magnetic head cleanability and the reduction of head wearability. SOLUTION: This cleaning tape for the magnetic head has a nonmagnetic tape and a magnetic head cleaning layer formed on this nonmagnetic base. This magnetic head cleaning layer contains ferromagnetic powder and polishing material grains of Mohs hardness of >=8. The grain size frequency distribution curve of these polishing material grains has two peaks. The first peak exists between grain sizes of 0.15 to 0.25μm and the second peak exists between grain sizes of 0.4 to 0.6μm. The total of the content of the polishing material particles having the grain size of 0.15 to 0.25μm and the content of the polishing material particles having the grain size of 0.4 to 0.6μm is 5 to 20 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. ferromagnetic powder described above and the weight ratio (the former:the latter) of both is 1:1 to 6:1.
