PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain gate driving energy of a self-arc-extinguishing element from the main circuit side in a power converter using the self-arc-extinguishing element. SOLUTION: The energy of a capacitor 6 connected in parallel with a self- arc-extinguishing element 1 through a diode 7 is supplied by turning a first auxiliary switch 13 on-off through a first power supply means composed of a first reactor 15, a first transformer 8 and the first auxiliary switch 13. The snubber energy of a second auxiliary switch 33 for regenerating snubber energy accompanying the on-off of the first auxiliary switch 13 and the snubber energy of the first auxiliary switch 13 are regenerated by a second power supply means 40 through a second reactor 12 and a second transformer 30 with the on-off of the first auxiliary switch 13 and the second auxiliary switch 33. |
