PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject resin composition containing an unsaturated polyester resin, an inorganic filler, and water in each specific ratio, at a relatively low cost, and useful for moldings obtained by a heat compression molding, good in making the same as fire retardant without reducing mechanical properties, surface properties, etc., thereof. SOLUTION: This unsaturated polyester composition contains (A) 100 pts.wt. unsaturated polyester, (B) 50-350 pts.wt. inorganic filler and (C) 5-300 pts.wt. water. Preferably, the composition further contains (D) 1-20 pts.wt. heat-flowing agent. As the resin portion of the component (A), a mixture consisting of an unsaturated polyester prepared by a polycondensation of an unsaturated dibasic acid with a glycol and saturated dibasic acid as necessary, a polymerizable monomer and a thermoplastic resin added as necessary for the purpose of low shrinkage is preferable. Further, a molding is obtained by a heat compression molding of the obtained composition at 60-98 deg.C. |
