PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an insert buried in a pad from separation. SOLUTION: A steering wheel body 1 has a boss 8 fixed to a steering shaft 30, a ring part core 5, a spoke part core 6A, covering bodies 7a, 7b for covering the ring part core 5 and the spoke part core 6A, and a pad part 3 interposed on the ring part 2 at its generally central upper part and integrally formed with the covering bodies 7a, 7b. A membrane switch 12 actuated by pressing the pad part 3 is disposed on the pad part 3 at its rear side. An air bag device 13 is disposed below the membrane switch 12. Buried in the pad part 3 is a cloth insert 41 installed on a support bar core 24 to actuate with the development of the air bag device 13. Namely, the cloth insert 41 covers the support bar core 24 and are folded to form at least a hinge part 50 in a doubly folded state. The superimposed part of the insert 41 is sewn. |
