摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the transmissible torque of a metallic V-belt type continuously variable transmission. SOLUTION: The angleαof inclination of a V-groove of a pulley is set in the range of tan<-1>μ∥a<α<tan<-1>μs(e.g. 5 deg.<α<9 deg.) whereμs is the coefficient of static friction,μa is the coefficient of dynamic friction between the pulley and an endless belt. In a conventional type which is set toα>tan<-1>μs (e.g.α=11 deg.), the tension of the endless belt is increased if the transmissible torque Tin is increased, and the slip is generated between the endless belt and the pulley. The transmissible torque Tin can be increased while the slip of the endless belt is prevented by setting the angleαof inclination to be small and reducing the tension of the endless belt.
