PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a low-cost light bulb having high sensitivity and high resolution by forming a photoconductive layer consisting of a 1st layer having photoelectric conversion function positioned on the transparent electrode side and a 2nd layer having a lower relative dielectric constant than the 1st layer and positioned on the liq. crystal side. SOLUTION: A double-layered structure consisting of at least 1st and 2nd layers 10, 12 and preferably having a 3rd layer 11 positioned between the layers 10, 12 is imparted to a photoconductive layer 3. The relative dielectric constantε1 of the 1st layer 10 is higher than the relative dielectric constantε2 of the 2nd layer 12 and the 3rd layer 13 forms a relative dielectric constant gradient ofε1→ε2 from the layer 10 toward the interface between the layers 11, 13. Non-single crystalline silicon (amorphous, polycrystalline or microcrystalline silicon) is used as the material of the photoconductive layer 3. Amorphous Si: H is optimum from the viewpoint of carrier generating photoelectric conversion function and an alloy material such as amorphous SiC or SiN having a low relative dielectric constant is advantageously used so as to reduce the volume of the entire layer 3.
