PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new dihalopropene compound excellent in insecticidal and acaricidal activity, useful as an insecticide and an acaricide for agriculture. SOLUTION: A dihalopropene compound is shown by formula I [R, R<2> , R<3> are each a halogen or a (halo)alkyl; R<4> is H or an alkyl; R<5> and R<6> are each H, an alkyl or CF3 ; R<7> is a halogen, an alkyl or CF3 ; R<8> and R<9> are each H, a (halo)alkyl, an alkenyl, etc.; Q<1> is a single bond, etc.; Q<2> is a single bond, O, etc.; X is Cl or Br; Y is O, NH, etc.; Z is O, S, etc.; (l) is 0-4; (p) is 0-6; (r) is 0-2] such as 3,5-dichloro-4-[4-[4-(1-piperidinylcarbonyl)phenoxy] butyloxy]-1-(3,3-dichloro-2-propenyloxy)benzene. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by reacting a compound of formula II (L is a halogen) with a compound of formula III. The compound of formula I is also obtained by using a new intermediate of formula IV.
