PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly confirm the soundness of a 1st communication node equipment by sending a specific information ATM cell with specific information set thereon to a 2nd communication node at a prescribed period. SOLUTION: Specific information ATM-cells 51-A, 51-B are sent once between adjacent communication node equipments 10, 20 for a prescribed period. In this case, a processor card 11 sends the specific information ATM cell 51-A at a point A1. Then a processor card 21 receives the specific information ATM cell 51-A at a point B1. Then the processor card 21 receives the specific information ATM cell 51-A, the processor card 21 sends the specific information ATM cell 51-B at a point C1. Then the processor card 11 receives the specific information ATM cell 51-B at a point DA1. Then the processor card 11 sends the specific information ATM cell 51-A at a point A2 after the lapse of 500msec from the point A1. Then the operation above is repeated.
