PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-contrast negative image even in the case of development processing low in pH by incorporating specified silver halide grains in an emulsion layer and a specified dye and a specified phosphonium salt in an emulsion layer or the like. SOLUTION: The silver halide emulsion layer on a support contains the silver halide grains containing at least one of Rh, Ru, Re, and Os in an amount of 1×10<-6> -1×10<-3> mol/mol of silver halide and having a silver chloride content of 90-100mol%, and a silver halide emulsion layer or another hydrophilic colloidal layer contains at least on kind of water-soluble dye having 300-600nm ofλmax dispersed into fine solid particles and a hydrazine derivative and the phosphonium salt represented by the formula in which each of R<1> -R3 is an alkyl or cycloalkyl or aryl group or the like; J is an n-valent organic group combining through a C atom with the P atom; (m) is 1, 2, or 3; and X is an m-valent anion.
