ONBOARD NAVIGATOR HAVING FACSIMILE COMMUNICATION FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable communication of interactive facsimile images by transmitting a map image to a recipient with various messages added thereto to obtain a replay with optional information superscribed. SOLUTION: When a transmitting intention detecting means 200 detects a demand for transmitting a map image, a partial map image of a specified area in a color map image stored in a color image memory 150 is cut out by a cutting means and a pseudo intermediate tone conversion means 350 obtains a binary coded gray image presenting a visually pseudo intermediate tone image from the partial map image thus cut out. A message to a recipient of transmission is generated by a message generation/synthesization means 310 and synthesized to a binary coded pseudo image to generate data for transmission. The data for transmission is compressed and wirelessly transmitted to a destination set optionally. This allows a user to receive a replay on which lacked roads, courses and the like are superscribed and recognize the details through a display means 500.
