PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent misrecognition place from being overlooked when a correction is made by making the character pattern of input data distinguishable from character patterns outputted except when there are a plurality of character patterns whose shape differences between the input data and a plurality of character patterns are minimum or less than a given value. SOLUTION: A character recognition part 5 compares the input data obtained by a scanning part 3 with character patterns stored in a recognition dictionary part 4 to digitize shape differences from the respective character patterns into digital values, and selects the character patterns in the increasing order of the distance values. When there are a plurality of character patterns having the smallest distance value after the character recognition by the character recognition part 5, or when the difference between the character pattern having the least distance value and a character pattern having the distance value following the smallest distance value is less than a specific value, an output formation part 6 makes the character pattern distinguishable from other cases by marking such as underlining and meshing when outputting the character pattern. |
