PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the abnormality of a PWM generating circuit under the state, in which an electric motor is not driven, and to inform a driver of abnormality before the electric motor is driven in a controller using the electric motor such as an electric power steering controller. SOLUTION: When the non-driving of an electric motor on steering torque is decided, a current value for monitoring abnormality, where a value, where the electric motor is not rotated even at the time of conduction, is set, is output to a PWM generating circuit 52 as a target driving current value iMF. Since a PWM signal PWMF corresponding to the target driving current value iMF is generated in the PWM generating circuit 52, the PWM signal PWMF corresponding to the current value for monitoring abnormality is generated even when the electric motor is not driven. Accordingly, a driver is informed of the generation of abnormality in the PWM generating circuit 52 when the PWM signal PWMF is not generated from the PWM generating circuit 52 for a fixed period and is not generated even after a fixed time passes under the state, in which the electric motor is not driven, in the control circuit 34. |
