PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain performance of an engine by preventing penetration of water and dust into an engine in the stage in which air is taken into an intake device. SOLUTION: An intake device for an engine is provided with an air inlet 23 through which air is taken in from the outside, and the air inlet 23 is covered by means of a cover 25 made of a porous material which lets air through but does not let liquid through. In this way, penetration of water and the like is prevented, and at the same time, an intake device built-in component such as a filter element can be dispensed with, so that both of maintenance of engine performance and reduction in costs can be accomplished. For sintered metal is used as the porous material, intake noise can be reduced, and a flame arrester can be also omitted. |
