摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To previously prevent unnecessary noise from generating, and temperature of a drive source from excessively rising, by setting a movement control quantity for returning a sensor standbying on a standby position to a reference position smaller than a movement control quantity for previously moving the sensor to the reference position, and enabling an operating time of a sensor driving means to be shortened when the sensor standbying on the standby position is returned to the reference position. SOLUTION: A sensor 47 is previously positioned on a reference position PB, and the sensor 47 is moved from the reference position PB to a standby position PW previously set according to the size of a print paper sheet 26. The sensor 47 is moved from the standby position PW to the print paper sheet 26 carried in the side of the standby position PW so as to detect the side end of the print paper sheet 26, and the sensor 47 is let stand by on the standby position PW until the next print paper sheet 26 is carried in the side of the standby position PW. Accompanying completion of detection of the side end position of the print paper sheet 26, the sensor 47 is returned to the reference position PB. A movement control quantity for returning the sensor 47 standbying on the standby position PW to the reference position Ps is set smaller than a movement control quantity for previously moving the sensor 47 to the reference position PB.</p>
