PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alternate processing method with excellent data alternate processing efficiency by alternating a block area containing a sector area with a secondary defect with an alternate block in the unit of blocks when the data are recorded. SOLUTION: When the fact that the secondary defect exists in a certain sector of an ECC(error correction code) block (n) becomes clear when the data are recorded, the ECC block (n) containing the secondary defect is alternately recorded in an alternate block (n) in the unit of blocks by linear placement alternate processing. At this point, the data indicating that the alternate processing is performed are registered on a defect control data recording area. The reproducing order of the data comes ECC block (n)→alternate block (n)→ECC block n+1→ECC block n+2→.... The defect control data are recorded so that the address data of the alternate origin answer to the address data of the alternate destination. Further, the position of the ECC block becomes clear from the address data of the sector incorporated in the ECC block.
