The holder (1) has a five millimetre thick rigid rectangular plate with rounded edges, formed of a relatively firm elastic material. A rectangular slot (2) is formed in the centre of the plate to receive a pair of skis, so that the skis are retained with a controlled clamping force. The self holding characteristics of the material prevent curved removal of the skis. The ends of the holder can have a padding. The plate can have an oval or rounded form.
