摘要 Equipment for machining welding beads at the corners of a welded plastic frame has one or more swivelling and or linear moving machining units (3,5,11) with machining tools and a supporting table (13) for the frame (15). An optical measuring unit (23) on the machining unit (3,11) records the distance to the frame (15). In a bead machining process using the equipment the height and/or breadth of a profile section of the frame (15) is optically measured and the machining operation is controlled on the basis of these measurements. Preferably the measuring unit (23), which is moveable perpendicular to or parallel to the supporting table (13), consists of a laser unit and a laser detection unit which perform a triangular measuring process. The height of a profile section is measured by moving the measuring unit (23) over the profile to determine the distance to the profile (15) and the height is calculated from the difference between the measured distance and the known height of the measuring unit above the table (13). The width of a profile section is measured by transverse movement of the measuring unit across a profile or if necessary the cross-section of the profile can be ascertained during the transverse movement by determining successive reference points.
