A self-locking spanner has a fixed clamping jaw (2) rigidly connected to a grip (1) and a mobile clamping jaw (5) which is mounted on the fixed jaw so as to pivot. A leaf spring (6) engages on the mobile clamping jaw (5) when the latter is in its open position in order to hold the mobile clamping jaw (5) in its open position.
