An inhibitor of heme oxygenase is used in treatment of cancers and other tumours, either alone or in combination with another anti-tumour agent or as non-pharmaceutical anti-tumour therapy such as tumour irradiation. An anti-tumour composition comprises an inhibitor of heme oxygenase and a cytotoxic agent.
